Left Lyford Cay Club at 1000 headed for Rose Island anchorage. We motored along the northern edge of New Providence Island. Ran right along the deep water line and across the shipping lanes into Nassau Harbor. We saw several cruise ships and a few tankers.
The approach to Rose Island takes you to Chub Rock were there is a marker, a light, but I’m not sure it works. As you approach Chub Rock veer to the SSW to go between the rocks at the end of Rose Island and Salt Cay. Once through ghe little cut you can head due east into West Bottom Bay. You are just inside a line of rocks off the rocky shore line.. It shallows up rather quickly but there is 7 feet of water well into the bay. We eased up into the 5 foot range and dropped two anchors in sand. We used the dingy to drop the second and then I went out and dove on it to get it to set. We all went snorkeling, even Jane. She had a good time I think. Evelyn swam about a half mile down the bay to a small beach, where she met our neighbors and saw several star fish on her way.
We watched a beautiful sunset and drank our first Dark & Stormies with home made ginger beer.
