The new and improved Boat Bumz Sailing Club is now up and running. Check out the Club Page and give me a call. I am working on the new online booking system for both the boats and sailing school classes. Information on the individual boats will be on that system with a link to them. The 25’s are rented daily up to 3 days max. Just because they are small and it’s really camping. The 27’s can be chartered for a minimum of 2 days and up to 7 days. They don’t have refrigeration, yet, but I’ve got a work around that will get you through a week. The 34 Irwin is cruise ready and can be chartered for a minimum of 3 days, up to 10 days maximum, plenty of time to cruise the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds, Outer Banks, Dismal Swamp and Cape Lookout to Wilmington.
Whether you want to cruise the whole time or day sail and stay in New Bern we have you covered. There will be scheduled flotillas with tours, raft ups, beach parties and great fun. This is a great way to build experience and gain confidence for your future bareboat charters.
I’m even going to race a little this year with the Neuse Yacht Racing Association and I’m looking for crew on the Irwin 34. The Capri’s, Catalina 27,and rumor has it a Hobie 16, are available for race crews to charter as well . 2015 is going to be a great year, come and join us!
I would be interested in crewing for the races. What’s the schedule?
I’m looking at the NYRA.org site. Looks like one on the 21st of March. Going to go through and mark them on my calendar this weekend. I’ll have more info
then.
Do we have to have prior experience to be on a race crew?
Prior experience racing or sailing? I’m pretty much a newbie when it comes to racing so that wouldn’t be a problem. I would be open to working someone in who wanted to see what is was about and introduce them to sailing. BBSC members and prior students would have preference for crew positions though.
That would be great if you could work me in. I have little exprience sailing in general. But I am willing to learn.
Tentative schedule for S/V Enchantment will be:
NYRA Invitational: March 21st – 22nd
NYRA Cinco De Mayo: May 9th
NYRA NCOC: May 22nd-24th (North Carolina Offshore Championship)
NYRA Parrothead Regatta: July 25th
NYRA Michelob Ultra Regatta: September 6th – 7th
NYRA Halloween Regatta: October 24th
There will be other boats available if you have your own crew or we have too many on Enchantment. I may even work some of these into classes this year…..
